Changes to Microsoft 365 perth it support

This is a very important message for all equity principals, partners, directors practice managers and business owners. If you outsource some or all of the IT services and IT support for your Perth professional services firm, or you use Office 365 or Microsoft 365 subscriptions in your professional services firm or your business, this blog contains very important information that will be extremely beneficial for you to know now that could prevent you from making a very big, expensive mistake.

Microsoft have announced changes to how Office 365 or Microsoft 365 subscriptions will be available moving forward, and any existing subscriptions will have to be migrated to what Microsoft have dubbed the new commerce experience by February 2023.

So, what are the changes and how does it affect you?

  • Beginning 1st of March 2022, the only option available to purchase Microsoft 365 or Office 365 will be the new commerce experience.
  • Existing clients using Office 365 or Microsoft 365 will have to be migrated to the new commerce experience by February 2023.
  • The conversion to the new commerce experience will take place on your subscription renewal date.
  • Microsoft have announced that monthly subscriptions will be the most flexible in terms of a cancellation, however you can expect to pay 20% more for the privilege than if you sign up for a 1-year commitment.
  • If you do sign up for a 1-year or 3-year commitment you have the first 72 hours to be able to obtain some sort of a refund if you decide it’s not right for you. After that there will be no refunds.
  • If you cancel within the first 24 hours, you’ll get a full refund on a 1 year or 3-year commitment.
  • Billing will depend on whether you are month to month, 1-year or 3-year term.
  • You can pay monthly for 1 and 3-year terms, however you are still obligated to pay till the end of that term.
  • Your obligation to pay, is to whom you originally brought the subscriptions from, whether you bought direct from Microsoft or indirect through a Microsoft Partner.
  • If you cancel after the first 24 hours and up to 72 hours, you’ll receive a prorated refund which is calculated daily.
  • The 72 hours is at the beginning of each seat-based subscription term in new commerce, during which a client can cancel the subscription or reduce seats on that subscription.
  • It includes all days of the week and does not exclude weekends or holidays. If a subscription is purchased on a Friday, the client can theoretically cancel until the following Monday and get some form of refund.
  • If you add on more seats during the term the same rule applies from the date of those being added and these are subject to the 72-hour rule.

As your trusted advisor, we are encouraging all our clients who are not sure about their firm or business size and growth or who are concerned about committing to an annual term or three-year term to purchase the monthly term option so that they can cancel or adjust their seat count at the end of any given month with no further payment obligations.
